Happy Thanksgiving

Today I am thankful for many things, including:

  1. A loving family.
  2. A comfortable home.
  3. Turkey.
  4. International readers who don’t mind being wished a happy Thanksgiving today even though they are not specifically celebrating the act of giving thanks.
  5. Neighbors who refuse to plug in their Christmas lights until tomorrow.
  6. I guess the other neighbors, too.
  7. Readers near and far who are patient with me when I blow off blogging in favor of eating turkey with my loving family in my comfortable home where the Christmas lights will not be plugged in until tomorrow.

  1. We don’t have Thanksgiving here in New Zealand, though lately we do have Black Friday, which has been going all week in what I suppose is rehearsal for the Christmas commercial push that started about three weeks ago (I know what I said…) Thanksgiving sounds like a great holiday – have a good one!

  2. I trust you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Sarah. We celebrate it here in this household as a hangover for when we lived in North Carolina. It is my favourite celebration of the year! And yes! We do turn the Christmas lights on – but then we have no close neighbours!

    1. We did have a wonderful Thanksgiving. The power went out for several hours in our neighborhood, but we’d chosen to have an early meal so were just finishing the dishes when the lights went out and got to be extremely thankful our turkey wasn’t in the oven still. It really is the best holiday! It gets unfairly overshadowed by Christmas.

    1. I dislike getting bombarded with the advertisements for Black Friday sales beginning the day after Halloween, but when I had to go to Sam’s Club on actual Black Fiday to pick up garbage bags and I slipped in and out of the store like it was an average Tuesday, I didn’t mind so much that retailers had spread out the sales a little. They hadn’t included the garbage bags in a doorbuster deal, though. I was disappointed in that.

    1. Aw man. And now I’m disappointed I might have missed a good deal. My son’s current running shoes are Asics and as cross country season has ended and track season looms, he’s probably due for a new pair.
